About KYOMAF

What kind of event is KYOMAF?

KYOTO INTERNATIONAL MANGA ANIME FAIR 2016 (in short KYOMAF) is a general manga and anime event that brings all the latest news, exhibitions, stages and merchandize to the general public.

There are several venues. What is the difference between them?

The attractions and contents in all 3 separate venues are different. Please be aware that the opening time and entrance fee for each venue differs as well.

①Miyako Messe Venue Contents: Booths of various manga and anime related companies, Stages, Manga Editorial Department Counter, Food Area etc. Main Venue of KYOMAF 2016.

②Kyoto International Manga Museum Venue Contents: Special Exhibitions. Second Venue of KYOMAF 2016.

③ROHM Theatre Kyoto Venue Contents: Concerts and Cosplay Events. Third Venue of KYOMAF 2016.

About Miyako Messe Venue

Miyako Messe (Main Venue) Outline

What events will take place in Miyako Messe?

Miyako Messe is the main venue of KYOMAF 2016. Planned contents are: Booths of various manga and anime related companies, Stages, Food Area etc.

What is the opening time?

17.09 (Sat) to 18.09 (Sun) 2016.

17.09 (Sat) 9:00 – 17:00, 18.09 (Sun) 9:00 – 16:00

※Please note that closing times for Saturday and Sunday are different.

※Last admission is 30 minutes before closing.

How much is the entrance fee?

Regular Ticket costs 1,200JPY (tax included).Primary school students and below (guardian assistance needed) and foreigners (upon showing the passport) enter for free.

About the tickets

How much does the ticket cost?

The ticket to Miyako Messe costs 1,200JPY for junior high school students and above. Primary school students and younger enter for free. Primary school students need assistance of a guardian (20 years and above).
Foreigners can enter for free upon showing their passport.
However in case of the advanced lottery stages, foreign visitors must buy the stage lottery ticket the same as other visitors. Only those chosen in the lottery can take part in the stage events.

Is there any priority entrance?

To prevent overnight cuing we will be selling priority entrance tickets that allow earlier entrance to the venue. The priority tickets will be sold through a lottery and are additional to the regular admission tickets.
* For priority entrance please purchase a regular admission ticket as well. You will not be able to enter the venue with only the priority ticket.

Where can I buy the priority tickets?

Applications for the Priority Tickets lottery are open from 1.9.2016 (Thu) 9:00 to 11.9.2016 (Sun) 23:59 at Lawson Ticket Website.

※ Website only in Japanese. Because of ticket system limitations, only those residing in Japan are able to apply for the lottery.

How Much does the Priority Entrance costs?

2,000JPY (tax included) per day.

How early can I enter with the Priority Ticket?

Priority Tickets allow visitors to enter the venue from 9:00. The admission will be carried out in order of the ticket number.

※Visitors carrying only the regular admission tickets will enter the venue after the priority entrance ticket holders.

Is there a parking area?

There is a parking area, but because of big crowds during the event we recommend using public transport. The parking at Miyako Messe has space for 163 vehicles. It is open from 7:00 to 23:30 (entry until 22:00).

How much does the parking cost?

The parking space at Miyako Messe and the Okazaki Koen Parking (7:30~23:00) in the area cost 500 JPY for the first hour and 200 JPY for each following 30 min.

Can I park a bike or a bicycle?

There are only a few spaces for parking. Because of big crowds during the event we strongly recommend using public transport.

※Please do not park your bicycles at the Kyoto Prefectural Library near Miyako Messe.

About KYOMAF Stage (Advance Lottery Stage)

What is KYOMAF Stage?

Please check here for more details.

Because of ticket system limitations, only those residing in Japan are able to apply for the lottery.

Do you empty the Open Stage venue after every program?

We do not empty the Open Stage venue, but please refrain from securing seats by leaving your belongings.

Can I eat and drink in the stage area?

Please refrain from eating and drinking in the stage area. Use the Character Café or the rest spaces inside Miyako Messe.

Can I take pictures and record the stages and the cast?

Taking pictures, videos and audio recordings of the cast on both KYOMAF Stage and Open Stage is forbidden. If the staff notices such behavior your data might be deleted or confiscated, or you might be asked to leave the venue.

Can I pass on letters and gifts for the cast?

You cannot give letters and gifts directly to the cast of both KYOMAF and Open Stage. However, we will prepare gift boxes at the stage entrances, where you can leave your gifts.

If you do not have the ticket for the stage please ask the closest staff for assistance.

About Venue facilities

Is there a smoking area in the venue?

Smoking in the whole venue is prohibited. Please use the smoking space at B1F outside.

Is there a day-care center for children in the venue?

There is none. Huge crowds are expected during the event so please keep close watch over your children.

Is there a nursing room or a place for storing baby strollers?

There is none.

Are there vending machines and public phones in the venue?

Yes, on the 1st floor.

Can I leave my luggage somewhere at the venue?

There are coin lockers at the 1st floor. Big for 300 JPY(W36cm×D48cm×H77cm), small for 200 JPY(W36cm×D42cm×H39cm)per day. There are only 24 lockers, so we advise using the lockers on the train stations etc.

Are pets allowed in the venue?

No pets are allowed into the venue, except service dogs.

Can I enter in a wheelchair?

Yes you can. The venue is barrier-free. However, please bear in mind that some of the corridors are slightly narrow and the whole venue gets quite crowded during the event. You are also welcome to ask staff members for assisting your entrance and exit, however there is no staff designate for exclusive assistance.

Can I use Internet in the venue?

You can use Miyako Messe Wi-Fi at 3F, 1F and B1F lobby on your phones, tablets and other devices for free.

Is there a place I can eat and drink at?

Please use the Character Cafe or one of the Miyako Messe rest spaces.

Can I take pictures/videos in the venue?

Taking pictures, videos and audio recordings of the cast on both KYOMAF Stage and Open Stage is forbidden.

Please ask the exhibitors for permission for taking pictures in the respective booths.

Can I use credit card while buying goods at the venue?

Credit cards will not be accepted. Please pay by cash. Thank you for your consideration.

About the entry.

Am I allowed to queue over-night?

Due to security reasons, we do not allow over-night queuing. Please come to the venue at the day of the event with public transport.

Are there any articles not allowed into the venue?

Blades, inflammable substances and other dangerous articles, items with a strong odor, items emitting loud sounds and other articles disturbing other visitors are prohibited.

If any item is judged by the staff as such, it might be confiscated.

If I came on business purposes, can I enter the venue earlier?

There is no priority entrance for business visitors.

Would there be a long entry line?

There is a long line of visitors every year. This year as well, a large number of visitors is expected. However the entrance in the afternoon hours is relatively smooth, comparing to the morning hours.

At what time should I come if I don’t want to wait in the long lines?

It depends on the situation, but the entrance in the afternoon hours is expected to be relatively smooth, comparing to the morning hours.

About cosplay

Tell me more about the Cosplay Area.

There is a Cosplay Area and Changing Room in Miyako Messe.

Special photo backgrounds will also be available in the hall. We are awaiting all the cosplayers and cosplay fans.

※Please refrain from changing and applying makeup in areas other than the Cosplay Area Changing Room.

Can I come in my costume?

Please do not come to the venue in your costume. Do not use public transportation and neighboring facilities / toilets while cosplaying.

Where is the changing room?

The changing room is on B1 Floor of Miyako Messe.

Do I have to pay for using the changing room?

For using the changing room you need the Cosplay Registration, which costs 1,000JPY (tax included) per day.

Are there any rules concerning cosplay?

There are several rules and precautions concerning cosplay. Those who are interested in cosplaying in the venue and taking pictures in the cosplay area, please carefully read the rules here.

What events will take place in Kyoto International Manga Museum?

The Kyoto International Manga Museum will hold a special exhibition for the Weekly Shōnen Sunday manga “Dagashi Kashi”. DAGASHIKASHI Exhibition – Kyoto store.

Opening hours: 17.9 (Sat) – 16.10 (Sun)
(Closed every Wednesday and on 9.10)

Kyoto International Manga Museum will also hold the【KAIYODO in KYOMAF】 exhibition and sales of KAIYODO figures on 17 and 18 September in the multipurpose hall.

About entrance

How much does the ticket cost?

There are no advanced tickets.

The entrance fee to the museum on the day is as follows: Adult 800 JPY, Junior/Senior High School Students 300 JPY, Primary School Students 100 JPY

Please mind that unlike the Miyako Messe, foreign visitors and primary school students need to pay the entrance fee.

Where can I buy the tickets in advance?

There are no advanced tickets. Please buy the ticket at the museum.

Can I buy the ticket on the day of the event?

Yes, please buy your ticket at the Kyoto International Manga Museum.

Can I use my credit card?

You can use your credit card to pay for the entrance fee.

You can also use credit cards at the Museum Shop (American Express, VISA、Master Card、JCB and others) . You can use your bank card as well.

Are there any discounts for disabled people, elderly people, groups etc.?

The entrance to the museum for disabled people is free.

(For identity verification please bring your disability certificate or other document about your health status)

Other people liable to discounts:

1. Group (over 20 people) leaders ※

2. School, kindergarten, nursery school trip leaders ※

3. Sport teams and other kind of youth group leaders ※

※ The number of leaders for categories 1 – 3 must be not higher than 1 per 10 people.

4. Licensed Guides entering with foreign tourists.

5. Tour conductors from travel agencies.

6. Helpers of disabled people (1 per person).

Is re-entry allowed?

Re-entry is allowed only on the same day. However, please bear in mind that you cannot reenter the special charged exhibitions.

Is there a parking space?

There is no parking space. Please use public transport.

The closest parking space in the area is the Oike Underground Parking Space that accommodates 1000 vehicles. Opening hours: 6:00 – 24:00. Parking fee: 250 JPY for 30 min.

Can I park a bike or a bicycle?

There are only a few spaces for parking at the northern part of the building (free of charge). Because of big crowds during the event we strongly recommend using public transport.

About Venue Facilities

Can I smoke in the venue?

Smoking is prohibited in the whole venue. There is no smoking space prepared.

Is there a day-care center for children in the venue?

There is none. Huge crowds are expected during the event so please keep close watch over your children.

Is there a nursing room or a place for storing baby strollers?

There is no space for storing baby strollers. There is no nursery room as well, but you are welcome to use part of the staffbreak room. Please ask the staff for assistance.

Are there vending machines and public phones in the venue?

No, there are none.

Can I leave my luggage somewhere at the venue?

There is no cloakroom in the venue, but there are free coin lockers at the entrance.

Are pets allowed in the venue?

No pets are allowed into the venue, except service dogs.

Can I enter in a wheelchair?

Yes you can. The venue is barrier-free. However, please bear in mind that some of the corridors are slightly narrow and the whole venue gets quite crowded during the event.

Can I use Internet in the venue?

You can use KYOTO Wi-Fi in some parts of the venue.

About “Ojarumaru” Photo Stamp Rally

What is the “Ojarumaru” Photo Stamp Rally?

It is a stamp rally for families, which will take place around Miyako Messe and Kyoto Municipal Zoo.

At the rally points you can have fun by collect stamps and taking pictures.

How do I take part in the stamp rally?

We will be distributing free rally papers at the rally points. The event is free of charge.

Some of the stamp points are situated in places that need additional entrance fee, however you can still enjoy the rally in the free of charge area.

How many rally points will there be?

It will be announced soon.

Are the rally points situated far from each other?

The rally points will be all in walking distance from each other.

To take part in the rally you will need to use regular streets outside of the venue. Please beware of cars and bicycles.

The organizer does not take any responsibility for accidents and injuries that occurred during the Stamp Rally.

Kyoto Municipal Zoo(Family Event Venue)Outline

What events will take place at this venue?

The goal of the Stamp Rally will be located here. We are also planning other family oriented events.

What is the opening time?

17.09 (Sat) to 18.09 (Sun) 2016.

How much is the entrance fee to the zoo?

Regular ticket: 600 JPY, Junior High School Students and below: free entrance.

※ You can enter the Zoo for free with your KYOMAF Ticket (Miyako Messe Venue).

There are no advance sale tickets. Please buy your ticket on the day, at the Zoo entrance, or buy the KYOMAF Ticket for Miyako Messe.

If you already purchased the Zoo Ticket, entrance to KYOMAF (Miyko Messe Venue) costs only 600 JPY.
